Potential virus in 12.4.1 Service Release update?

    I just went to

I downloaded both 12.4.1 & 12.4.2 software updates. ZoneAlarm AntiVirus [aka Kaspersky AntiVirus] reported a high threat virus in the 12.4.1 file. It reports the virus as HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic Have I downloaded a Trojan from a spoofed web site? Is this just ZoneAlarm reporting a false positive?

Appears to be a false positive

I decided to do some research on this. Using another computer running Avast AntiVirus, I downloaded and scanned the 12.4.1 update file. I scanned it with Avast, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. All 3 stated that there was no virus in the file. I also found a thread relating to this virus name on Kaspersky's forum site, stating it's a false positive. Hopefully, this will help someone else. See

I've made an exception for this "alleged" virus in my ZoneAlarm antivirus program.

I sure bet you are relieved . I've heard Kaspersky is pretty good antivirus but maybe the scan of the update file caught the name Verus in the files a few times and something in the Polish translation didn't sit well with it and it waved a red and white flag.
BTW how are you able to download 12.4 lol

The tip off was the HEUR [meaning heuristic] in the virus file name. Basically that means that ZoneAlarm [aka Kaspersky] spotted something in that file that "acted" like a Trojan. You are sure right that I'm relieved. Thanks for the 2003 Grand Am engine tips. I think you're taking photos of the circus wagons, because you "still" harbor dreams about running away to the circus. At least as a clown, you wouldn't have to deal with a Grand Am, or learn photo editing software.

PS Kaspersky is Russian, not Polish. Polish names end in I, Russian in Y.

Aw c'mon....Polish names end with SKI because they can't spell toboggan.
            (No malice intended here folks)

Sorry, I didn't see that question when I replied previously. You can't download 12.4 [ or any other software version] What I downloaded from Snap On's site was a pair of patch files [to fix bugs in 12.4]. They are 12.4.1 & 12.4.2 You have to install 12.4.1 first, then 12.4.2 goes over that. Think of it as Snap On's version of "Windows Updates".
This is done using Snap On's ShopStream Connect software & a PC.

I can not provide a link to the actual software bundle update page now, as I'm using a computer belonging to someone else.

Windows Based Platforms Service Release Page

The link below is where you can find and download the patch files to fix bugs in whatever version of Snap On Scanner/Scope software you own. See

FYI, this link won't stay valid forever. If the link dies, use the title of this post in the search window of the Snap On site to locate the newest version of the page. That will probably happen once 15.2 comes out. Using any other search terms means you will probably hit a dry well.
