it should be easy to add because it uses the crank sensor.

Also Ids is using a fuel injector balance/leak down/flow/ test with the fords using an electronic fuel regulator this works well on the newer fords.
Thank Rich! if the IDS can do it, there is no reason SO can't do it, so GREAT suggestion.

What would you use the module pinging for? I know what it does..but have never wished I had it for diagnostics. Just curious.

At the risk of me looking really dopey, you mean programming ignition keys, right?

Hi, Joe, I think He's talking about a network test, were you can see which modules are communicating and which are not. Also IDS will quiz each module for continuous codes in another separate function from the network test. This is a quick way to pull memory codes from all the modules at one time, instead of going to each module individually. If You have any other IDS questions let Me know.

Well on the tech 2, I use it to put modules to sleep, so I can check for a draw.or to see if they will wake up or stay off line, like the problem with atc modules going to sleep and not waking up to name one.

On the IDS a network test would be good.

On the DRB, I use a module scan and all codes to see who is talking and what codes are where, sometimes the codes we dont see with an aftermarket tool is the fix,I am seeing this more and more of codes in modules we would not check unless we have a all module scan.

As for ignition keys, the imports could be done, but pin numbers would be needed on some car lines to complete job.

The fords keys could be done with the verus, but you can do it now with the Snap On Pass thru pro software and jbox.

Gm can be learned with the 30 minute learn but more than often they need a VTD relearn flash to work and this could also be done with the snap-on pass thru pro software and jbox.

The Chrysler would need the pin number so this would be alittle harder to do for keys but it would be nice.

You can get all the pin numbers from the oem web sites if you have a locksmith license for a fee.

But soon this will be the basics for these Space Shuttle Cars we work on.

          Maybe this helps

          Have a good week end.

yes ignition keys. does anyone really know the real purpose of the transmitter in the key? has auto theft dropped dramatically or have the dealers gained an edge? do we fix cars or do we fix spaceships with wheels; just think of all the stuff we have to buy just to fix one car.

              Hi Joe
Here's another from just the other day. Another tech here didn't do he's homework and ordered a O.E. trailer Hitch package for his in-laws 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Vin # 1J8GR48K18C234264.
After doing the installation and finding out the trailer lights didn't work he read the instructions. Turns out you need a Starscan, Starmobile or Witech to turn on the trailer tow relay outputs. Chrsyler products do this A LOT with their options. This is a Can vehicle so my DRB will not do this so I had to call in a favor to a dealer friend to come and do this for me (For some reason Rich wouldn't fly in to NewYork and do it for $50.00 ). So if the developers could add Chrsyler option functionality configuration that would be GREAT!

I bet there's a LOT of optional stuff like that. Fog lights, Cruise Control, Keyless Entry. Very cool. Thanks for posting Steve.

Hi Joe! Sorry I dont have a VIN since the car shipped two weeks ago but I replaced an ignition cylinder on a 2001 focus and couldnt enter it into learn mode without taking it to ford for them to hook up the NGIS to it... That would be a huge deal if you succeed in this! Thank You!

here"s some diesel items, the 2003 - 2007 6.0 fords all have a ficm (fuel injection control module). they are blank when you replace them and need programed. If you install a factory tbc (trailer brake controller) it needs to be synced to the pcm and instrument cluster in the ford diesel"s too. On the dodges the 1999-2003 5.9 cummins, when you replace the engine ecm the ecm and pcm need to have the vin numbers matched or synced. ill post more when i remember them been real hectic around here.
