MODIS 7.4 This is really the first time using the DC volts meter. I am unable to get any volt readings. It just reads 0 I use the ohm meter quite a bit and it works fine. Any ideas???
You must have been reading my mind........ I got out the MODIS tonight, just right now to try to figure it out. I wasnt paying attention to the bottom of the screen where it says clear as day Ch 1 I moved the leads to channel 1 and GND and it works...... Thank you very much... Makes me feel stupid LOL I'm so used to a regular DVOM where if it has a + and - that would be where you take voltage readings from.....
I'm in the multimeter - Graphing meter - volts DC and its uses Gnd and Ch1. Its the same as Lab scope, This is the way I have always done it and it works.
In current versions of software, Ch3 (-) and Ch4 (+) are only used for Ohms and Diode/Continuity in the Digital meter. In those cases, the left most button on the lower tool bar will display Ch3/4 to indicate which jacks to connect to. All other measurements will use one of the channel jacks and the ground jack. In those cases, the channel jack to connect to will be displayed on the lower toolbar.
At one time, Ch3 (-) and Ch4 (+) were also used for Volts in the Digital Meter. Around the 5.4 release, the software was changed to move the Volts measurement in the DM to the Ch1/GND jacks. Using them had some advantages over using the Ch3 (-)/Ch4 (+) jacks and allowed the addition of the Volts DC Average and Volts AC rms measurements which had been requested.
The bottom line is that if there is any question as to which jacks to use, refer to the bottom toolbar.
When Using the MODIS for ohms you will need to use channel #3 (-) and channel #4 (+) side. ON the older release you will need to use the same leads for some of the digital scope readings. If you have the newer release in MODIS then channels #3 & #4 are mainly used for Ohms and Diode/Continuity checks.
You can always tell by looking at the lower left portion of the screen. It tells you which channel to use. On the newest MODIS release the color displayed will be yellow whenever you need channel one, Red when you need to hookup channels 3/4.
Hope this helps,
