    00 Honda Accord Ex 2.3l Ulev-vtec

Hello, i have a 00 honda accord ex 2.3l ulev-vtec. The problem with this car it has heavy engine vibration after 5 seconds when put in drive. My new customer changed all motor mounts thinking it my solve the problem, but it didn't. I installed my verus to see codes and data. Well the engine has no codes, but i have some data you might wanted to see. { IAC- in idle has=13%,RPM-in idle=705rpm,FUEL INJECTORS= 3.400ms in idle,ADVANCE TIMING=12.5degrees in idle,ENGINE VACCUM in idle= 22inches of mercury or 74 kilopascal, IAC- in drive without load=40%-80% but most of the time is over 70%,RPM=700rpm in drive,ENGINE VACCUM in drive=9 inches of mercury or 30 kilopascal,MAP in drive =2.05v,TPS in drive=0.49v,FUEL INJECTORS in drive=7.6ms,ADVNCE TIMING in drive = -8 degrees. I replaced this components cause another mechanic mess with this parts and they were bad (iac, map, throttle body). On monday i changed the ecu with an used one and reprogramed, but the problem still exist. The engine has no vaccum leaks and the car is running with good quality gas.The valve lash is good, and the engine compression is also good. The compression is 175psi in all cylinders. The charging system is good, has 13.5v in idle. I have this car since 2 weeks already, my customer is gonna drive it like that, cause he needs the car. But he told me when he gets days off he's gonna bring back so i can checked again. Well guys, let me know if you had this problem or if you have any suggestions. Thank you for your time reading this post. Mike.

I also notice when puting in drive and let the vehicle go by it self (3-5mph) the reading of the IAC doesn't pass 50%.

Sounds like you have a drive line problem 007, could be the flex pllate the torque cinverter is bolted to, just a thought

Thanks, im thinking that i might have a transmission problem. I also checked the timing belt marks for proper alignment, and its ok. Including the timing balancer mark (most common engine vibration problems on accords). But ill check later.

          Engine vibration

A few things come to mind 1 nutralise eng. mounts on a warm eng. loosen all mounts go from reverce to dr. 3 times put in pk turn off eng and tighten the mounts 2 frount mount should have a vac. line going to it and a control unit for it is frount mount a honda unit? check front balencer shaft very close how about the tranny. mts.

Many Aftermarket Motor mount are not the same as OE and I've seen they have caused vibration problems. I hope the mounts used were OEM.

You mention that the Map sensor was at 2.05v in gear, check it in park and it should be 1.0 or less (0.88v is best), if the reading is too high it indicates Valves too tight or mechanical engine problem.

00 huh? Was a timing belt done recently? Theres a tab that sticks out of the left fender and if the engine mount isnt put back correctly, causes a nasty driveline vibration in drive. Dont ask me how I know :-)

I believe it wwas around 2000 that this applied.

But MAP at 2V says the engine is laboring. Maybe the t-belt is off a tooth.

@Marcece, yes the map sensor has 2.05volts in drive but in park is okay.I dont remember that exact voltage, and i don't have the car here yet cause customer took it like that. His gonna bring it back soon. But im 100% sure the map readings in park is okay. The engine has no symptoms of valve or engine mechanical problems, and when you drive this car is works good.@Turbojim, the timing belt was not change recently.Every engine mount is installed properly. And at the begining i took off the timing belt covers to checked the belt marks were aligned. Timing marks are okay, including the balancer shaft. My answer to the Map sensor voltage too high in drive is because the Idle Air Speed Control is raising up and it stays over 70% in drive. I dont have a clue why? My sister has a 99 accord too and is the same engine and is an ulev-vtec also, i checked the data at my sister's car and the iac never passes 40% in drive. So whats going on? I don't know. Do you guys have any clues?

Hondas with high IAC counts or percentage usually indicates a dirty throttle body, but since you have replaced that, I guess we could rule that out. I would check the PCV valve system for proper operation, good vacuum from valve, and good flow from air snorkel to valve cover. Also see if you can check the ELD (electric load detector) and confirm its not sending a false/bad signal to the PCM . If this vehicle has the two small coolant hoses that go to the IAC, make sure they are flowing coolant. HTH and good luck.
