    Verus Anti Virus Software

I was recently asked to recommend an anti virus software for the Verus. I don't know whether snap-on is planning on including anti virus software or not. I want to start by telling you that I don't use any anti virus software personally on any of my systems. I have NEVER gotten a virus on any system that was properly setup and configured on a network. I'm not saying its not possible to get a virus because in reality its sickening how easy it is to actually get one. If you take proper precautions and setup your network correctly its much harder to get infected with a virus. Hackers are a much greater threat than virus's! The best way to stop a hacker isn't some security program that can be exploited and broken into by a 12 year old with the proper piece of software and the right information. You need hardware based firewalls properly setup to deter hackers from attempting to infiltrate your network. I say deter because in reality NOTHING is hacker proof. Fortunately the majority of hackers are lazy. If you make it hard enough for them to get in they will likely leave you alone. All that said if you feel more comfortable running an anti virus program the only one that I have heard nothing but good about is NOD32. Its very fast and it doesn't hog down your system like other anti virus programs. This is the link to NOD32 http://www.eset.com/products/nod32.php . If anyone has any questions or would like me to help them setup they're network, computers, or Verus, let me know and I will help as best as I can.

If you plan on using your Verus to browse the internet, check email, etc. you might consider using a web browser besides internet explorer. Internet explorer has poor security and many vulnerabilities in it. A good secure alternative would be firefox. You might also consider running an antispyware program or two bi weekly (monthly if your a light web user). Good antispyware software can be gotten for free. My top picks are Microsofts Windows Defender , Spybot Search and Destroy , and Adaware . Windows Defender doesn't work as well as either of the others at removing spyware but it has some builtin automatic malware protection that comes in handy.

I Downloaded Avast For Free, And It Seems To Run Ok Without Slowing My Verus Much. I Compared The Speed With Av And Without. I Also Dowloaded Lavasoft Ad-aware 2009 And Spybot Search&destroy For Free As Well As Firefox. Also You May Manualy Download Sp3 From Microsoft Web Site. I Did And Found Windows Much Stable. Just Another Tip.
