I'm thinking that on non diesel applications some of these injectors could have the injector coding calculated right on the vehicles themselves by incorporating several relative fuel injector flow tests and several vehicle restarts .
As time progresses and injectors wear , or flow characteristics change over time , as long as it doesn't have a leak down issue , you could periodically perform injector cleaning and coding recalibration afterwards .
