    Modis - Amps

In the Modis component test drop down there is a shunt amps test. i don't think Modis is set up for shunt amps. The low amps probe tests are nice, but the ability to use other ratio probes would be an advantage.

What kind of tests would you perform with an amps shunt: alternator and starter I would imagine? There are plenty of products out there that can do this already. But you are right; being able to do this with MODIS would be beneficial because you could save screens of a high or low reading for your customers.

      clarification

what I was trying to point out is that there is a setup in How to/Test Tips/Parasitic Draw Test that shows how to setup for an amp test using the internal amps jack (it shows using the black & yellow channels). I don't think there is an internal amps jack. I just don't want someone to blow their Modis!

        Parasitic Draw Test

When I open the MODIS with the Current release, under ?Using internal amps jack? below the MODIS picture for instructions it says na because it can?t be done with a MODIS. The menu and this whole page should not be shown.

However, the Vantage PRO is fully capable of both internal 10amps and external parasitic draw tests. With both meters (Vantage PRO & MODIS there is enough screens to perform this test for a very long time, as long as the charger is plugged in.
Good observation, and I hope this helps,
        Dave
