    Programming Modules Help

There are plenty of modules that need to be programmed to work when a new one is installed. Door modules, power window modules etc. Sometimes they just have to be programmed at the Dealer (like when access to their dealer network is required), but often it's just a matter of initializing the module. For those vehicles there is no technical reason that the Snap-on scanners can't do it. This is an area where the SO scanner can improve, but I need everyones help in identifying specific cases.
So, please reply here with any modules that you've come across that needed to be programmed after being installed. Want to help things go smoothly? Please include the first 10 digits of the VIN, and the specific module that needs to be programmed!

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi Joe
I posted this a little while ago, just got to look the vehicle back up and I'll post the VIN. THANKS for the GREAT POST!

            2003-present IPC Programming

Certain GM vehicles, inlcuding Saturn and Hummer can have the instrument clusters programmed by the Tech 2 without the help of their Service Programming System.
See service Bulletin 07-08-49-020C for the complete list.

This would be a great addition for the vehicles that it works on.

Hell yeah!! Joe Rappa, you are on to something BIG BIG BIG here!! Any type of coding we could do with snappy's scan equipment would be a HUGE plus!! Many scan tools can read codes and data pids. It's the bi-directionals that truly set a top-flight scanner apart from its competition IMO. Since everyone has pretty much mentioned GM's BCMs, I will have to re-recommend SRS-coding. Especially for calibrating weight sensors. Also, please focus your efforts on domestics first.

In restraint systems, Occupant Classification System it would be GREAT to have the Zero Point Calibration and the Sensitivity check.
Until I got Techstream I lost A LOT of these to the dealers and Mobile guys (SORRY RICH ), as I do work for local body shops.

                      Here's some more Joe
                      Adaptation resets on Mini's.

                      AT-CVT, Engine flare on Deceleration
As per this TSB you need to clear the long term gear ratio adaptation and perform the "adaption teach-in procedure".
If you don't clear the adaptation you can do the teach-in all day long without results. This problem has happened to all four of my Mini customers. Each one had to go back to the dealer as I don't have a GT1 and the dealer charged them $300.00.

Also for code P2096 Post Catalyst fuel trim, system to lean. I had to replace the downstream oxygen sensor. The procedure states to "Reset Fuel Trim Adaptations after repair". Again I don't have a GT1, so it took several code clearings and road tests before the trims got back to normal and I could return the vehicle to the customer knowing it was fixed. A LOT of unbillable time because I did not have the correct scan tool to do the job.

                          Hi Joe,

Another test I use alot is the realitve compression test with the ids on fords.

it should be easy to add because it uses the crank sensor.

Also Ids is using a fuel injector balance/leak down/flow/ test with the fords using an electronic fuel regulator this works well on the newer fords.

What about all modules online or a way to ping modules ,put to sleep or data line test.

Just throwing some things out there for you.

it would be nice to be able to program security keys without all the hassle of buying (3) or (4) different scan tools.
