    Using the MODIS on BMW's

I have a BMW E46 318i 2000 with starting problems, it will not start!
The vehicle sat for a year with a flat battery, when a new battery was fitted. It started fine, but the next start up was Null. Scanned the DME and it had a code - 'Key mismatched'.
So I cleared the code, but still cannot start the engine - no cranking at all.

I believe it has something to do with the Key and the EWS unit not synchronised with the DME. Does anyone know if the MODIS can do an alignment with the EWS-DME?

    Thanks.

Just did this on a 745i, but it should still apply...

Yes, Modis with Euro package will perform synchronization. It's under functional tests for the immobilizer. Menu reads something along the lines of "Synchronize CAS."

Note: the re-synchronization will not "take" if you do not correct other faults, if present, and clear codes in the immobilizer.
