P0460 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit

Can a Modis do a voltage test on a fuel sensor on a 2002 Ford Focus? If so, please let me know how. thanks.

What are you trying to do? Test this sensor? Do you have a Modis? Which engine is it, need the 8th digit of the VIN. The more info you supply the faster the responses and the better the respones will be!

      Hi nutek,
As Steve says, please give up some details and you'll get detailed help, but if you're asking if the Modis can do a voltage test-the answer is Yes. It's a multimeter that can read Voltage.

Yes the modis can test this. You will first have to print a wiring diagram of the fuel level sensor. Then test the sensor like you would any variable resistor. If it is two wire disconnect fuel module locate the wires to the sensor connect the modis in graphing meter ohms or resistance mode and move the sensor float full sweep with no side load then with side load in both directions. If the sensor has no severe variations ex. open circuit(out of range high) or short circuit( < 10 ohms). sensor is good. If sensor is good check supply voltage( min 5 volts - max battery voltage) and ground circuits from the vehicle harness with key on.
