I am in the process of deciding whether to purchase the Verdict or not. So far, upon researching various forums online, the reviews of the Verdict has been dissapointing. I do need to purchase a diagnostic tool and would like help with this forum to determine whether it is worth the price to purchase this device or not. I've also noticed that the Snap-on support has not received good reviews as well. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated. BTW, it would be good to hear from fellow mechanics. Thanks.

Personally I would not purchase either the verdict or verus at this time until the glitches caused by the software changes . Hardware is probably the best but with this software in them makes them almost useless...My answer to your question if to buy one or not I would say not at this moment until SO gets their stuff straight and fixes this can of worms...Last edited by gentz; 06-08-2011, 01:01 PM.Diagnostic Specialist, diagnostic tool specialist. There are a lot of questions that you need to ask when making a purchase like this. What scan tools do you currently have, what is it about those tools that has you looking for another tool. Does the Verdict specs meet those demands? If the answer is yes then what makes you want the Verdict over the Modis or Verus. I myself do not have a Verdict, I have a Modis and Verus but I have used the Verdict and did like it. Reviews can help, but do not just rely on them, most forums reviews will be mostly complaints. Will your dealer allow to to test drive one for a few days? My thoughts are that Snap-on makes the best all in one box around. Vehicle coverage, functional and system tests are getting better all the time. The Component test module is better then any I have used and the scope is excellent. I am not saying there are no issues with it, but it is a great tool. I would watch the video's that Snap-on has for it and see you you could use one for a bit, then get back to these forums with any questions you have.

Just like steve mentioned have your rep loan you one for a test drive, this way you can actually feel the problems happening to you...and decide on if you would like to buy it now or wait and see if they will fix it...Diagnostic Specialist, diagnostic tool specialist. My verdict was my first SO scanner and will be my last. I had owned otc scanners for the last 12 years and switched in january. Lots of software lock-ups constantly call snap-on tech, communications issues. Mine has had to be reimaged 4 times now, and had to go back in once for 2 weeks. Very slow to boot up as well. They've swapped out my scan module twice now. I still have issues with it. If I could make SO take it back I would in heartbeat. I'm extremely dissapointed with my purchase. Don't be wowed by the wireless aspects of the tool, it's issues will will overcome the wow factor withina week or two. My rep says he won't sell another one until I'm happy with mine, he's seen firsthand all of my issues.Comment

We have had a Verdict since early February and haven't had much trouble with it at all. Still get the odd lockup every now and then. The wifi is pretty much more trouble then it's worth, but I expected that from the start. Wifi Connectivity is not one of Win XP's strong points. Wireless between the hand unit and scan module and has been trouble free since the last update to 10.4 and with 11.2.
If the scope is an important factor then I would choose a Modis or Verus over the Verdict. Four Channels and Ignition top two channels. Truthfully I wouldn't recommend the Verus or Verdict to anyone who isn't really familiar with Win XP, it's problems and how to keep it running smoothly.Comment

I HAVE HAD THE VERDICT NOW 3 MONTHS AND USE IT EVERY DAY.AFTER THE FIRST WEEK HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT COMING UP WITH A SYCHOST.EXE PROBLEM AND WOULD SHUT DOWN,TECH SUPPORT WAS GREAT AND AFTER A REIMAGE IT HAS WORKED FINE.i WORK IN A CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP AND USE IT MORE THEN THE SHOPS SCAN TOOL,ONE THING I DO DISLIKE IS THAT I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO RUN CHRYSLERS WITECH SOFTWARE ON IT ,BUT UNABLE TO GET IT TO CONNECT TO THE NETWORK ,MAY BE ME OR OUR I.T GUY ,,ILL KEEP TRYING BUT REMEMBER THE TOOLS FOR THE MOST PART ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PEOPLE USING THEM(IN MOST CASES)NOT MEANT TO BE A SLAP IN THE FACE BUT MOST PROBLEMS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE TOOL...julian heitzComment
