    Let's keep the stolen/payoff thing separate. Stolen is one thing...payoff is not an issue.
    Joe has stated that the second hand buyer is NOT on the hook for outstanding balances owed to Snap-On.
    Do you or any other members have examples of a dealer seizing a tool from anyone other than the original purchaser?
    Do you or any other members have examples of a tool sent in for repair being seized?

    I happen to agree with you on the stolen part. Before the internet, I would use a payphone around the corner from the sellers' house to call Sheriffs' Office to check the hot sheet. Of course, the actual owner of the tool would have to realize it was missing for it to be reported.
