Verus Pro/D10 will not connect to Peugeot 307

Today I tried to diagnose some ABS and other issues on a 2005 Peugeot 307CC (1.6 Petrol) and our new (to us) Verus D10 simply refused to connect to the car.

    I tried Auto-ID - Manual-ID (varying model year/checking engine code etc.)
I even tried Generic OBD - nothing connecting at all...

(I tried KOEOff and KOEOn too)

The Verus worked other cars I tried including a pre-OBD2 Peugeot 406 HDi

Our other scanners can read codes from this 307 but lack the specialist stuff that the Verus would offer >IF< it would just connect to the thing...

Anyone got any idea what might be wrong here???

Hi you would probably find that the car is too old to auto id,most probably manual id is the way to go,also i have found power down the verus and then re-boot,then use another scanner to check the engine code and manually input to the D10,try to connect to other modules to check for communication fault, use a obd break out box to see if the high speed low speed can lines are active.

I tried many times to Manual ID - confirmed specific engine code and tried either-side model years (the car is from a facelift/changeover year) - no success whatsoever...

Being a Peugeot it will likely be using KWP Fast (ISO 14230-4) - CAN doesn't appear on these for diag until much later.

The weird thing is, the Verus read an older (pre OBD2 required) 406 - a car I've had a LOT of trouble reading using other scanners because it's still using VANBUS!

          By way of an update

I borrowed a Modus Edge today, which connected-to and read the 307CC just fine - even read the roof module which even Peugeot's own software struggled with!!

I'd really love to know why it can read the car and the Verus couldn't but - hey ho - the Modus wouldn't read the 406 because - well - because diagnostics is a game of 'how many devices can you own' isn't it?

Well done, the other option you could try is to contact customer support and let them look at the verus remotely, just a thought,

May I ask why you would need to use another scanner to ‘ check engine code ‘ as Peugeot and Citroen both have that in the chassis number ( 5,6, & 7 th digits ) which you just read using your eyes

I am curious, what is Peugeots dealer/factory software called? and what is your opinion of it?

For a car of this era, the dealer software was "Peugeot Planet" - sometimes called PP2000 - and it's pretty cranky!

I recently talked to a Peugeot-trained technician - he worked in main-dealers from the mid-90s until late 00s - he told me they'd have 3 or 4 different laptops/cables, each tagged with which cars that particular software version/firmware/cable would actually talk to!!

You couldn't update some of them because it would mean they'd have no way to talk to certain cars - it was a bit of a mess.

Looking closely at this car's history, I found a bill from a main dealer where they said they "Could not access the roof ECU to diagnose" - so that's still a problem.

It didn't stop them charging over $200 for their 'services' of course...

Assuming the code is still there (hasn't been painted-over or removed) and/or the engine hasn't been changed

With 13-year-old cars - never assume anything...

Example: the other fault in this car is the Yaw sensor - the one in it isn't the right one but you MIGHT assume it's just broken and replace it like-for-like - which wouldn't work either!

It's back with the van for update and a checkup so we'll see what happens when it returns

They'll take this Modis away then tho and I'm kinda liking it - my daily-driver scanner is a Solus Edge and this Modis is SO SO much nicer...

If only I could get it out of 'white on black text' ;(
