For a 96 Golf Cabrio 2.0 my brick says use " DL16 adapter" with S7 key. It does not prompt selection of OBD1 or OBD2.
I selected a 95 Golf Cabrio with 1.6 (2.0 does not show as a selection) it also says DL16 adapter with S7 key.

S7 if you use the Euro Adapter.
K20 if you use the domestic/asian adapter
