    You need to be a little more specific. Like, what type of car/truck you are trying to do this to? Some can and some can not. Using mode 8?

      Look under functional tests or in generic mode under mode 8. If its not there then disconnect the vent solenoid connector and apply 12 volts to manually close it.

        We have had multiple vehicle that we cannot. Today was a 2004 dodge dakota with a 4.7l.

          As MadMatt stated, it is not just scanner software, but vehicle dependent as well. If the car you are working on and the software in your scanner support EVAP testing, then it will be in the "Functional Test" section.

            The 04 dodge dakota 4.7 does not have a vent solenoid but rather uses a NVLD solenoid or assembly. The NVLD should be in the functional tests and there should also be an EVAP monitor test in the Systems tests.

              Energizing the NVLD opens the valve. The PCM does that so when the system is purging the valve doesn't create any vacuum. LDP, NVLD and ESIM systems found on all Chrysler products have no vent valves to close. They must be sealed mechanically.
