Real Time updating by Server by carline menu

Lots of older snap on scanners never get updated because you can pretty much get a brand new Chinese scanner with a free year of updating including European for a five hundred dollars more, but if the updates could be purchased by a choice of a specific car manufacturer by need for $50 to $100 with the option if you love what you see to update the remaining manufacturers for 90 days and having the $50 to $100 you paid for updating one manufacturer credited to a full updating of the rest.

Also cant see why Snappy can't have a scanner with a single channel DVOM - graphing function and custom pid selection for it that you can run and graph the dvom at component side by side next to the circuit pid on the controller side. Maybe have a USB WIFI Dongle and pair very small optional WIFI DVOM probe with retractable ribbon probe you can "Strap On with velcro , ties or magnet , powered with 2 common AAA batteries, so you can road test and dvom test a component wirelessly on a roadtest.

They cant do that because its patented. Theyd have to by that patent or pay licensing fees, both of which I assume they dont want to do which is why they introduced the Ethos Tech

Who's able to claim the patent on the method of updating by server by individual manufacturer and purchase option of updating just a single manufacturer's software, to see if within a 90 day period you wish to update the whole ShaBang, and get credited the $50 or $100 you paid for just updating the one make?

        US Pat#8930067:
Systems and methods for a diagnostic software service that utilizes a subscription model to distribute diagnostic software to diagnostic tools. An application server provides software modules to which a technician subscribes and, once subscribed, are utilized via the diagnostic application. Subscription to software modules enable the technician to add and utilize specific diagnostic functionality in an a la carte manner.

You literally described the existing patent. Currently Matco through limited release exclusive agreement with its scan tool supplier is utilizing the patent, Launch will roll it out to their general product offerings after Matco exclusive period (1yr?) expires.

Maybe Snappy could still sell updates by specific manufacturer ala carte off the truck, rather than a server , and a new CF or SD card included with your old software version and the full new version pre-installed, but is locked down except the manufacturer you bought the update for.

Theyve already made up their mind on a bsiness model. Only way the Ethos Tech system wont stay or be spread across the scan tools is if it flops.
