Just got off the phone with tech support and they said that the vehicle is not putting out the required voltage to run the verus software. The modis says that the car is putting out 14.2 volts i dont see a problem . somebody enlighten me please

Did you tell tech support what the Modis said as far a voltage output? Also check for your self at the battery, DON'T rely on the tools reading if there is a Comm problem.

check voltage not just for power,i had a issue like this that was caused by a low battery, only had 9volts enough to light a test light but not power the verus.

They meant for you to check for power and ground at the DLC connector. The Verus needs the power from the DLC connector to operate the scanner, whereas, the Modis does not.

I have since ran into this same problem on a 99 explorer with a 4.0 SOHC
It worked the day before and then didnt work the day after checked voltage at the DLC and found 12v and 14v running.

                No Data

Have You Checked For Grounds At Pin#4&5? On The Dlc. And Battery Voltage At Pin 16? If Ok Check If Terminals Are Loose? I Have Had Same Problems On Certin Vehicles And Have Had Loose Terminals, If You Put Pressure On The Dlc And You Get Comunication Then That Your Probelm. Also I Recommend You Buy A Dlc Brakeout Box, I Use One Evrey Time For Communication Faults. I Also Have Backup Scan Tools To Verify Any Faults, In Your Case The Modis Did Work And If All Your Dlc Pins Are Ok I Would Think Its The Verus. Keep Calling Tech Support..

sometimes tool readings fails. the best thing to do is to call a tech support for this for you to be able to fix and done your Ford Windstar repair.

Its a Ford... The only thing they did right was circle the problem and highlight it in blue....

Seriously though. Which verus are you using Gen 1 or 2

I currently have been using the Gen 1. I recently added a wireless kit too it and the results are very dissapointing...

a couple of tips I have for DLC connection are:

                    1. Try another scan tool 1st. If it works, write down any and all faults. Then try jigleing the DLC to see if it looses conection.

                    2. Measure the out put at the DLC to see if it is getting proper voltage.

                    3. AFTER you have made EVERY attempt to retrive fault codes and WRITE THEM DOWN. Clean the battery Terminals, The cables, and make sure the chassis ground is free of corrosion were it makes contact!!!

This tip alone has fixed 10 cars for me this year with out any other repairs and also aided in 4 others that also needed additional work... in some cases I have even retrived a DTC for battery voltage not being correct. Two that come to mind in the last week or so were 07 civic and an 06 Highlander. There was no obvious corrosion on these ones but makeing the terminals clean and true and cleaning the cable clamps so there shiney made all the difference. Another car we just had went to 5 different Shops and one of those was an electrical specialist. The car would start to die after it was good and warm like it was loosing power. Even though the battery tested good it had a Date from 06 so we replaced it and cleaned the cables. Problem solved.
