    E4491

I'm trying to learn the security on a 2013 Impala and all I get is E4491.
After calling techline they won't help because it's a branded title. Tried disabling antivirus and firewalls with no luck. All modules will program with exception of the SDM. Replace and still will not program SDM or Theft.

This is copied from another forum so for once the spelling errors are not mine

Occasionally when you program a G.M. module, you may have a
failure. At this point an E-code will be displayed. Usually
there is no definition of this failure other than the code.
Here is a list of the most common failure codes.

E4398 - no Calibration Data - the calibration data is not
loaded onto G.M.'s server - you need to cotact Techline for
a VCI number or a calibration update.

E4399 or E4403 - Severe Error - loss of communication
between the programming devive and module - ck connections
and battery voltage. Programming communication speed may be
    too fast for the module.

E4413 or E4414 - non recognized calibrations or calibrations
marked with an * - restart programming and select "Replace
    and Reprogram"

E4404 or E4494 - loss of communication brtween the
    programming device and Techline

    E4491 or E4423 - Programming Failed - incompatibility
between the software/calibrations and the module - contact
    Techline

I saw that but Techline will not help due to the fact it is a branded (salvage) title.

Basically you got the wrong module for the software you were trying to install. Is the VIN correct ? Is the module correct ? Check part numbers. That would be my guess.

Why are you trying to relearn antitheft? Same with the SDM. Did you replace modules? Car accident? More details if you can please. Thanks

That's interesting. I never heard of that before except with a Tesla.

I have had used ECM that would flash but would not learn theft. If you are using used modules, you may have to try other ones,or use new ones.

                  theft relearn

If you are trying to relearn theft deterrent due to an ECM change, you should be able to do 3, 10 minute KOEO to complete the relearn.
If you are getting this error while trying to flash the TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) you will need to check for any aftermarket wiring, such as alarms, remote starts, etc.
E4491 basically means that when SPS checks to see if EEPROM is ready to accept programming but not getting a reply saying "ready".
