    Used ECM Replacement

    I will continue to add and edit to this. Please comment to let me know of any changes that need to be made.
    *disclaimer: china/clones tools that I list are just support tools that I use. I probably wouldn't recommend china clones for the actual J2534 ECM programming. I use them to get the job done when other tools can not.

    Used Computer Replacement Guide (updated 2/14/16)

    General Steps To Allow A Used ECM to be used:
    1. ECM Programming/Immobilizer Reset (IDs/VIN in Immo ECU has to be registered with ECM to allow the immoblizer system to function)
    2. Immobilizer Key Programming (Transponder Key registered to give the "OK To Start" Signal To Immobillzer ECU)
    3. Parameters Reset (Initial settings to be set allowing required sensors to work correctly)

    • 1997-2000 - Type 2 & 3 Systems:
    No Pin Code is needed or on some 2000’s it is “5523”.
    • 2001-2008 - Type 4 Systems & later CAN / PROX Systems
    There are 2 types of PIN Codes needed for Infiniti-Nissan systems. Older
    Type 4 systems, all
    use the same PIN Code: “5523”

    sounds like you got a good hand on this reprograming thing. I myself just got into reflashing and really couldn't give you advice but I do ave a thread started that lots of fellow teck's helped me out, Maybe a quick read through the post you might find something. Check out New to programing in the J2534 forum. Good luck

      I just learned how to program Toyota keys and Nissan. Extra keys or all keys lost. Prox or regular. 2015 and below. Up next is chrysler. Need the max tool to get PIN and purchasing the micropod 2 soon.
