15.4: No servive reset on 2006 Porsche Cayman S

As the title says, even after the 15.4 upgrade (was initially attempted with 15.2), I still cant reset the service reminder on a customer's 2006 Cayman S. This is upsetting, as this should be a slam-dunk at this point (vehicle = 06, its now 2016).

As per Snap-On diagnostics, I did both the Instrument cluster hard reset (RESET choice under INSTRUMENT CLUSTER / FUNCTIONAL TESTS / RESET), and RESET ON BOARD COMPUTER VALUES... Neither one has worked either 15.2 or 15.4. On monday I will call SO diag to see if there is a fix in the works or a known workaround.

Any Porsche techs have any words of wisdom short of acquiring the Durametric software? We work on enough Porsches that I could justify it, but I'm just amazed that the Verus with 15.4 cant do a simple maintenance reset.

The Porsche coverage is pretty new, and Snap-on hasn't received a lot of feedback on it. As you see, there are some gaps in the coverage. It'll take aq while to get them filled. It will happen faster if you notify them about the gaps.
It may not be the answer you want to hear, but that's the answer.

Usually hit or miss, but sometimes if you borrow the apprentice's $999 Port freight 08 or a $300 Maxi Guess Pro you might be able to Get er done without resorting to The Heavy Artillery.

        Feedback

        Joe-
It's understandable that there might be gaps on the newer vehicles, but on an 06? Not acceptable to me for my $.

So how do I submit feedback other than calls that (as far as I can see) leave no feedback loop (for QA). When I called Snap-On it seemed as if they had no clue as to what would work & what wouldnt... Do you guys have an Euro / Porsche SME's (subject matter experts) there?

They don't quite have the Bull by the horns yet, but sooner or later they'll have Porch Caymens under their belts.

You can use this forum to report bugs or missing software coverage.

Post up the Year, Make, Model, Engine/ trans configuration And a brief description of what you are trying to access.

A Vin will also help them verify they can get the coverage needed.

It won't happen overnight but it will get added.

Up until recently they didn't want to add the Porsche coverage but as the older models become more affordable they find there way into the regular everyday shops. There are a few of us that have been beating this issue to death. They finally added some basic coverage. It's not perfect but at least they made the effort, They are working on it, And It shows they are listening.

I had to remove the seat on a 99-00 Boxster S to service the water pump and belt.

I Set of the Airbag light. Nothing in my arsenal at the time would even acknowledge the code. We had to find a porsche specialist that would not rake us over the coals just to clear it for us. The dealer wanted us to drop it off for 2-3 days and it was like $150 or so just to read and clear the light.

We found a specialist that did it for less than 1/2 and he was even kind enough to show me the OEM scan tool and talk about some of the projects he had in the shop. I think I was there maybe 20 minutes, mostly BS ing with him. Took me longer to get there than it to have it reset. He found some other codes we were not able to read either with a normal OBD 2 generic scanner. I passed two Porsche dealers on the way too...

Attached is a screenshot from when they added the coverage in 14.4 and of the current 15.4 coverage

It does show the 06 Cayman as being covered. Electronically, I don't know what would be different between a standard Cayman and the S model but apparently that specific function was missed.

                Cayman S

In 06 the Caymans were all S models. It may be on a sheet, but I get the feeling they aren't fully testing / vetting the software.
