    Thank you, Snap On!!!!

Is there ANYONE from Snap-On paying attention to this place??? I NEED SSC FIXED to work with a laptop running VISTA!!! LSMs are kinda handy and get shared a lot when doing diagnostics.

Oh, wait, that will be the NEXT thing they wanna try to charge for!

You guys at Snappy are making OE scanners look better and better all the time- I'm just sorry I PAID RELIGIOUSLY for your early updates and was a PAYING "BETA TESTER"!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE don't let ALL OF US DOWN!

O.k. Scott....I've not bought red plastic since 2000...but I need to know..what is SSC?

If it is a program, then run a virtual machine of XP on your Vista machine. Load your SSC in the virtusl machine.

You can get a free virtual machine program called VirtualBox

In all reality, Doug, if they say it's compatible, shouldn't it be? How many people are going to update hardware in the next year and face this. Although I do appreciate your help, Snap-On NEEDS TO FIX THIS!

I bought 2 new pieces of hardware with the software built in a year and a half ago. It's still not right. I agree wholeheartedly that if they say it's compatible it bloody well should be. NO EXCUSES. And that's pretty much all I got from 1-800. Glad somebody else feels the same as I do-!!

Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 is probably the best choice. It is done by Microsoft and is free of charge. The trick with virtual machines is you need to install the OS you want -- which means you need to have it, which implies you have to pay for it. Other issues include data sharing between the two operating systems, which can be a headache.

Nothing like paying for Microsoft OS software, twice, on the same machine.

This next statement is not targeted at Snap On specifically, but it does apply here:

Because of virtualization many companies are being very lazy about adapting their current software, which won't run on Vista, to Vista because they can fall back on the "Run it in a virtual machine" excuse.

              sdlindsey,

No disrespect intended..but I consider myself a VM expert

MS PC 2007 has not been updated in a long time and the Sun Virtualbox is also free and is a active updated product and has many features that MS Virtual PC 2007 does not.

Please look into it..any questions..let me know

                No disrespect,

but I was suggesting Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 because it is very easy to download and install, and for the average user works without issue. I can't speak to the other applications because I don't use them.

It's true, I'm no VM expert.

                  SSC Vista

                  Hi Scott,
Yes we are paying attention; we are currently in the process of fixing SSC to work with Vista. When the repairs are complete we will update SSC at no charge, with exception to those that haven’t bought red plastic since 2000.

                          jeff,
i may be wrong on this, but i believe the shop stream connect doesn't work properly on vista 64 bit. tech support told me a few months ago that vista 32 bit works ok.
just a thought, has anyone else played with the shop stream by loading jpeg, gif, etc. of family pictures or pico scope waveforms or anything else. works pretty good.

No disrespect but who claimed SSC was Vista compatible? These are the posted requirements on the SSC web page:
                            System Requirements:

Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional
Pentium 4 or Equivalent Business-Class Processor
512MB RAM Minimum, 1GB RAM Recommended
50 MB Available Hard Drive Space or Higher
                            CD-ROM, DVD, or DVD-ROM Drive
                            Internet Connection
                            Internet Explorer 6 or Higher
Display Resolution XGA 1024 x 768 or Higher
USB 2.0 or Later for Diagnostic Platform Connection
AdobeĀ® Reader 8.0 or higher, for displaying User Manual

Maybe we should just move on to Windows 7 with XP Mode and stop all this nonsense. OE Tools have their computer requirements also don't they?
