To me, this is basics, the foundation. If you don't have a good foundation,
then whatever you build on it will fall down flat. I'd rather they have 100%
of the pids for a given car even before adding the first bi directional control.
    Thanks WHEEL.
Can ya say that a little louder so SnapOn hears ya?

I could, but except for Jay and a few others that "get it" it would just go in one ear and out the other - that is - unless or until they felt it in the pocketbook. Unfortunately, the dollar bill is the ONLY language some people speak.
It is a daunting task to come up with the software to scan so many cars - even the OEM tools are not mistake free. Multiply that by how many car lines they are trying to cover. What gets me - they know this, yet
waste time and resources giving us a new interface for Verus that
according to my poll at this moment 80% of the users would rather not have. How much more or better coverage would those efforts have given us instead?

See the next post from WHEEL.

        HE "gets it"

        It's BASIC.

Even if they fix the edit button, the pids are still missing, so saving the data is USELESS 'cause we don't have all the information and we won't even need the edit button.

        Scanners that lock up....basic

        Pids missing......basic

Values & scales different than the service manuals....basic

Bi-directional commands not even in the scan tool (missing)....basic

        Bi-directional commands that don't work.
(eg; ) Fuel pump commands that don't turn on fuel pumps...basic.

Blue tooth & touch screens ain't gonna fix XXXX when the basics are messed up.

Jay. I'm gonna say right here and publicly that YOU are one of the few at SnapOn who gives a rats-pitoot & is helping. Letting people know what is in the works helps. Giving feedback helps. Actually listening to us, the purchasers and real-world users of SO equipment helps.

        Thanks for all you do-!!!

Is that crusty enough for ya...LOL

i with you guys all the way. get the pids, then continue. my #1 beef at this point is how arrogant snap-on seems when i paid for a scanner (VERUS) that had a screen that i fell in love with after the horror of the modis and its screwed up thumb pad. how can you change what i paid $10,000 for. do you get it , i paid for the 10.2 look !!!!!!!!!! ,without notice are a choice ,you changed it.

Holy-Cr*p, when my kids were 14 years old, we used to stick one finger in the other ear so it didn't go straight through-!!!
66-NAILED it....the ARROGANCE of the people who blindly bull ahead making "new & improved" junk.
While I didn't buy the All-In-One machine (THAT offends the KISS principle), the tools I have run over $8,000.00.
And here we are, over THREE YEARS LATER, they STILL REFUSE TO FIX IT-!!

Tech support has been called, E-mails sent, phone calls have been made, technical sales specialists & their so-called "trainer" was even at the shop, (HE was a JOKE), photographs sent, copies of FACTORY manuals sent, justified reasons why certain pids NEED to be included for PROPER diagnosis, explained again and again....

Guess what guys.....SNAPON AINT GONNA FIX DIDDLY-SQUAT-!!! THEY'RE GONNA DO WHAT THEY WANT, WHEN THEY WANT, IF THEY WANT, AND WE CAN GO-FIFFY-!!

              Pids are missing.

Like I said before.....GET YOUR HEADS OUTTA YOUR HIENIES.

Yes, you're right. It can be a daunting task to make a scan tool for as many vehicles as they do, BUT THEY'RE THE ONES WHO SAID THEY COULD DO IT-! AND THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD US AND SOLD US-!!!

Sorry Jay. YOU at least care and try to do your best but there are things beyond your control and again I thank you for your efforts.

SnapOn are behaving the same way they did over 10 years ago when they were notified about a problem in the brick. Guess what....it;s still the same.

Here we go again, same attitude, same results, same screw-you we don't want to fix it so we aint gonna.

I've been at this for a long time. I STILL learn something new every day and I don't know everything but AN ERROR OF OMMISSION IS STILL AN ERROR_!!
Even a grammar school kid knows that.

What is making me so bl**dy angry is they won't FIX IT.

They just keep coming up with excuses and justifications that don't hold any water.

I don't know if the brick wall is crumbling but MAN, my head is sure getting sore.
Missing pids. How basic can you get.

                  04 Colorado Crank Relearn

I was working on an 04 Chevy colorado 2.8 today and could not get it to do a crank relearn. Normally the crank relearn is listed seperately under the Function Tests, wasn't there so I looked in the trouble shooter under P0315. The test is there but when I pushed the prompt it sent me back to the main menu, when I pushed "continue" there it sent me back to the trouble shooter page with P0315., an endless cycle. There were no trouble codes stored in any of the other modules listed. I can't believe I'm the first one who found there is no crank relearn function for a Colorado, there has to be something else wrong here.

Thanks Jay for chiming in!!! As always it is comforting to know some does care.

Bob again great find. Sucks you have to be the one who discovered in the field but at least now we have it documented so it can get fixed.

I really see the potential with this tool and I hope they get some of this important stuff corrected.
Time is money!!! In this field we can not afford to waist time trying out different scan tools for different functions. I had a few tools demoed before I steeped up to the verus. Of course none of them could do what they promised and the people demoing the product didn't know the specific's of the coverage. They may cover every line but they didn't have good overall coverage. They may me be strong on one carline but only cover codes on others. I avoided spending the money on snap on scan tools for along time but like I said before the coverage has gotten so much better over the last few years. It was time to step up.

I have been told you can no longer do pass through programming with the tech2. A Dealer tech says only MDI for that now. Have not verified it myself though...

                        Snaponkid,

I just did a pass thru Friday using the Tech2. In fact, I did it because my MDI was having some sort of issue. I really still prefer to do Tech 2 Remote, just because it involves less equipment. I reall don't like to add my laptop and cord etc... into the foray.

                        Thanks, Bob

I personally don't have an account, But I know people that do...
I would like to do some J2354 Flahing but we rarely ever see any thing that needs it.

I've been looking at the Bosch M-VCI, Basically the MDI with Good forein and domestic coverage. I know it has been Validated with GM and Toyota for use as a passthrough device.

I finally down graded to the 10.4 today. First thing I noticed, I got close to a thousand scope and scanner files in memory, lots of luck finding anything in the data manager when you can only see ten items at a time. This is kinda like SnapOn's "New Coke" moment, if you're old enough to remember that.

I do. I probably drink a gallon a day my self... Don't worry I have another MDX in with a CEL and a VTM-4 light.

Couldn't use my snap on equipment to clear the 77-1 from the VTM-4 module since there is no coverage yet... Hope some of these things on the list I started get resolved by 11.4

I like how you said you down graded to 10.4...

greasybob, Is it just me or is scrolling through anything a pain in the rear on the Verus??? I had to add it to the list. Every time I scroll through pids I end up grabing pids I don't want while trying to grab and drag my way through the list to the ones I do want. Really gets me going sometimes...
