    can't get pass model yr

Working on a 1996 dodge B3500 camper van, base put together in Canada . Using solus pro I get "the detected yr ,10th vin char.doesn't match your selection". Using the vin #10 char. yr, the letter 't' for 1996 if I use 1995 its a 'v' for the yr.
This van had a pcm changed a couple yrs ago and it was suppose to have been programed before it was shipped. I don't know if this is the problem or not . if I go to 1995 I can get to the point it wants a Chrysler #1 adapter plug? I don't have one but the thing is where would that get plugged into? says under dash but only ob11 plug is there?? it wont let me any go any farther with out the plug. I am believing that the pcm wasn't programed right.
Now how to I get this fixed or working proper? Holiday weekend so it will be a couple days before they are open. key 13 doesn't work tried that.
The solus pro works fine on other vehicles just having a bad time with this dodge. Do I need to take this to dodge dealer to get it reprogramed?? or any suggestions before I pull my hair out? thanks for any assistance I can get. Any work around like generic? not sure that's the right word.im tired lol

For starters What is the problem with the camper van? Does the Check engine light come on when you turn on the key? Can you communicate with it in generic OBD 2 mode? If you cycle the key from off to on 3 times ending in on, can you count the Check Engine lamp flash out, to get the codes?

Have you tried to manually ID the vehicle instead of using automatic ID? Select 1996 from the list and then select Manual ID. This will allow you to ID it as whatever year you need regardless of the VIN that is programmed into the replacement ECU.

I have plenty on hand held tester that work just fine through the ob11 port. this van has gotten a ecm about a yr ago, reman engine in july cracked heads and old enough to replace, a reman tranny in sept. I'm going to put the third fuel pump in tomorrow when it gets here. first was dying old age after running hour an half it would start failing. first replacement wouldn't do anything no prime not a peep. second replacement is loud enough to hear it across the street in the house watching tv. so I will put a third one in. all new parts. then the alternator less then a yr old takes a dump, test good one day bad two days later? battery is 5 yrs old and I just put a electric fan system in and pulled the heavy clutch fan out. Now it hasn't been run much in the last couple months, battery has been unplugged numerous times so codes come and go did have one for the battery temp sensor, to high of temp, found it unplugged. I want real time viewing of what's going on along with if there is a difference in 95 to 96 ecm's I am pretty sure there is and I want the 96 sensor input/outputs that the solus pro can read and show up real time data. lol I want the scanner to work as it can and should. it is my fault I'm sure but it has me puzzled oh it runs great or sounds so, I need to make sure when your an hour away from pavement and then another hr or more from people, you don't need things failing.

Google the numbers on the sticker of the ECM and see what application that part # comes up for ,then contact the ebay seller of same ECM #to see if you can get the first 10 numbers of that VIN, and maybe enter off that VIN and the Solus might ask you to use a different personality key.
Some vehicles in 1995 had the OBD2 16 pin connector under the dash , yet still were OBD1 and the OBD1 connectors were under the hood

I will try it in generic or global and see if that will get me farther along.
I was entering the Chrysler the yr 96 letter "t:hook it up with k13 turn on and it would say it don't match. and stop there. if I put 95s letter "v" then it would want chryser 1 ob1 plug and stop there. don't know of a ob1 under the hood. haven't seen anything that looks like one but I will reexamine??
I will look for manual settings but think that's what I was doing, I will pay better attention and see if I missed something. I don't remember it asking for manual or auto? I will watch for it.
I will check the #on the ecm and see what it is for, I believe this was from napa with vin and mileage provided for programing? ? but will check on eboy and see what I can find with the #
It will be a day or two I have to get this ready to pull the fuel pump, so it will be cleaned and ready to put the new one in when fex-ed delivers it tomorrow. I have a egr to clean or replace on a buick also today may have to order it . life is fun enjoy it. thanks for the help. I try to learn something everyday.

by the time I got the fuel pump in and started up, It runs much better, steady 50 psi, and nice and quiet running.
it started to rain and a big drop in the temp, it is growing snow on my boat tarp now, so I quit for the day. rough being retired when there is always tomorrow. so hopefully it will warm up some and I don't have to shovel that white stuff i'll get back to this little bit of trouble I am having figuring out this tool.

up-date. I learned, it is working properly
I tried to look for the #s on the pcm but they are none that matched anything on ebay so I went back in my emails and found I bought it at rock, and the numbers matched for my vehicle. so it is for 96 97 yrs.
I also found my old one that was replaced when the pcm was suppose it have been bad?? Those numbers did match the ones on ebay that were for sale, so to check out my connection with the solus pro I put it in the place and tried it out, it wouldn't do it auto so it then took me thru the manually vin. so I got into the live data. the old one seems to be working so I am going to put the new one in and see if I can spot a problem with the old one.
                thanks for the help.
