I'm not understanding either Steve. Perhaps he's thinking about Mode-$06 data.??

Just add up all the Global and EOBD codes in Chrysler Library

and I Think the total is called a Checksum

Never mind the Mode-6 for now. What code(s) or symptoms does the vehicle have-??
You show a Solus-Pro in your tool list. What is it telling us-??

If you want to play with mode-6 you've got a lot of reading to do.
Mode-6 data is written BY engineers FOR engineers.
That doesn't mean we can't make use of it but it certainly isn't where I would start.

                  There are TID's and CID's.
For example I remember the Ford $53 gets you some information on Ford misfires. Some later models I think it uses $58.....
I think the $16 MIGHT be referring to oxygen sensor heaters but you'll have to find the information specific to the vehicle you are working on.
See what you can find on the SAE 1850 protocol.

Just use the data stream the scanner shows you.

                    Look up Counterman.com.
There is an article by Larry Carley from 2010.
"Unlock the Mysteries of Mode $06"

It's a start but not all inclusive.
Sorry, can't put up a link.

The $ is an indication the code is written in hexidecimal. That is a number system based on 16 rather than the 10 we are used to. It uses letters for the upper numbers instead of digits. A=10, B=11, etc up to F=15. Like was said before, high level engineering stuff.

If you have Mitchell, they have a section for Mode $06 data specific to each vehicle.

The only 16 I saw was for oxygen sensor 1/2 high voltage.
Both Mitchell and AllData have the same chart.
Not much to go on and a post cat oxygen sensor may have some influence on fuel delivery I bet there is more than that going on.

The normal data stream and fuel trims will tell us more than just $16 fail
