Swap memory cards between units

I bought a broken solus ultra to use the updated software in another solus ultra. Problem is when I put the card from the broken unit into my working unit I get a cf card license error. Anyone know if there is a way to get this to work?

This is by design, with the intent to prevent users from trading memory cards & updating units. See your Snap-on dealer or contact Customer Service.

The solus ultra is no longer supported. A dealer or customer service will not help since it is unsupported. This is also why I had to buy a broken unit to get the update I needed. I figured the software was locked to the card not to the scanner itself. There has to be a way to get it to work. Maybe edit a file or edit the flash on the unit itself. I just don't know enough to do it myself. If snap-on would continue support for their products instead of forcing you to new ones this would be no issue.
