cranking compression using 500 psi transducer is considerably lower than with a gauge (50 psi lower). anyone else experience this ?

Why would you leave the Schrader valve installed when you're using a transducer hooked up to a scope?
To check the accuracy of your gauge ?
Ok you got me. here are some shots of rolling compression, no shrader valve. One good cylinder, one with a leaking exhaust valve (if I remember this one) from a PT cruiser. I don't know though if I would totally discount know the crankning compression with the shrader valve. If you had an older four cylinder with a distributor (no crank/cam codes) that had low compression because the timing belt slipped a few notches, would a rolling compression test show that ? Can't say that I.ve tried. I haven't done much compression testing with the transducer. Usually don't have to go past a relative compression test with an amp probe. Maybe you can point out a few things on these screen shots. ThanksComment
