Revisiting this - Ford 6.7 regens

A little more time has passed now since 15.4 and the service update have dropped. One of the 2 of these has broken the ability for me to do DPF regenerations on any year model (so far, that I've tried) 6.7 Powerstroke. I can go into the test, it rev's the motor to check the soot level but afterwards when you should be given the option to exit or continue, there is simply no Continue button on the screen. Just an empty spot. With 15.2 it worked perfectly. I don't know if I did any between 15.4 and the service update shortly after, so I don't know which of these broke the test.

Can anyone please confirm for sure whether or not yours is working on a fully updated 15.4 system? Tech support has been absolutely no help. I've been passed around, hung up on, given false information, lied to, etc. Not good for someone that has bought multiple $10k machines from them.

WTF, No one has weighed in yet ? ... Well the Maxi Cyst used to do more functions or at least had less broken ones too before 2015, but like I said before , "If at any given time one important car make's software that you need isn't in the Proverbial Sh@tter at the time your update sub runs out, there would be no real incentive to buy updates if most of the cars we see are 5 years old or more.

My Verus Pro and Modis Ultra perform regens on 6.7s without any trouble. I have not heard of anyone else having trouble with this.
I'm not sure what is going on in this particular case.
Diesel71 answered the earlier post about this. He works exclusively on diesel pickups. If there's a problem with our software on GM, Ford, Chrysler diesels, he definitely spots it first! That guy has forgotten more about light duty diesels than I will ever know.

Perhaps I missed a reply somewhere. Or do you mean Diesel71's response in my original thread stating he hadn't had any problems? I followed up asking what version he was running and never got a response. If he's running 15.2, I never had a problem there either.

Interesting that your not having an issue on your pro. Finally yesterday at the end of the day (after tech support hours, naturally), I had the opportunity to play around a bit with a 6.7 that was in for other problems. I hooked my pro to it, same deal. Starts test, checks system, but no continue button. So I borrowed another tech's pro that he recently purchased that I didn't have access to before. Exact same thing. So I would say that rules out a problem with my tool specifically. I bought my pro back when they first came out. He bought his just a month or two ago.

I then grabbed the shop owner's new modis ultra and tried a third time and it worked perfectly, ruling out an issue with the truck itself. The screen is different on the ultra, which says to me its different software to some degree, therefore its a software problem. But I'm certainly no programmer so this is only speculation on my part.

I took screenshots throughout all of this but trying to get tech support to do anything about it thus far has been like nailing jello to the wall. I'm not sure what to do about it but I'm getting pretty irritated about the whole deal. I feel confident now that its not my tool, and its not the trucks, that seems to leave the software. But nobody will do anything about it because nobody will admit there's even a problem

Nailing Jello to the wall? Funny Stuff there.
Glad there's someone out there that feels The Big Ones need some loving too.

Be nice to be able to save the earlier version of software and have the option to access it if need be, when a function is found to be broken in the latest version software.

I have been requesting they add this capability in the past, but they don't seem to be interested. Would be nice to be able to hold a button down when powering up to boot into a special menu with older bundle versions available.

Your speculation is correct, the software IS differant between the modern platforms. Since it is there and works on the Modis Ultra, but not the Verii units, I would say it is "missing" some part of that function.

I have ran the 6.7 regen test using the modis avenger/modis ultra/solus edge and the verus wireless, unfortunately I have not ran that test with the verus pro. all were performed with 15.4 and no known problems. I understand your frustration but getting upset at tech support or wanting someone to say ya there's a problem wont get it fixed. I believe if there is an issue with the verus pro not performing this functional test, tech support is logging it and they will correct the problem. life is short stay positive

My reasons for being upset with tech support have little to do with the glitch with the pro. I have been blown off yet again since the last time I posted here about this. Finally though, I have one guy's email. He claims that if I put all of my screenshots together and type up everything that has been happening, he will try to get it to the right person. I'm glad to have someone willing to accept the information. But as I explained to him, he's not the first to have told me this, and it should have been handled that way on the first call, not the tenth.

An update on this in case anyone else has this issue.

I never got anywhere with tech support. I updated my machine to 16.2 when it came out and voila. 6.7 PS regens are up and running just as before. So something in the 15.4 update changed a perfectly functioning test, no clue what was changed to mess it up. The 16.2 test looks and functions identical to the 15.2 test. It's irritating that you have to buy another $1500 update to fix a screw up like this, but oh well. Hopefully this helps someone else that may be wondering what happened.

You mean you bought a 16.4 update???

                      Right now 16.4 is out...

No. I purchased 15.2 when it came out so that I could do stationary regens on these trucks. When 15.4 came out, I was eligible for that update for free. Since it added some PATS reprogramming features, I figured why not. Well apparently they tinkered with the regen functional test and broke it. It no longer functioned after the 15.4 update was applied. I went round and round with tech support, assuring me it had to be something wrong with my scanner, the truck, etc. although it failed to function on many trucks, and same results with another Pro unit. However, it worked with a Modis. It was proven to be the software having a glitch. They still denied it, stating no other complaints had been made. I purchased 16.2 when it came out and the functional test began working again, further proving it was the 15.4 update causing the problem

Well as a matter of fact, I did buy a maxisys. I really like it so far. It has a few hiccups but what do you expect? Made in China. I've already found a list of things it will do that my $10k snappy won't
