    Bidirectional test selects wrong injector

    Good Day

Ran into this today diagnosing a miss on a 2003 Hyundai Elantra 2.0L. VIN: KMHDM45D63U670492. Vehicle had a noticeable missfire on number 3 which it reported as P0303. The bidirectional test to disable the injectors suggested that the miss was actually on number 2 since when that injector was being disabled by the scanner there was no change in idle quality. Disabling 3 made the missfire worse. Scoping the injector waveform showed when number 2 was being disabled the scanner actually was disabling injector 3. Problem turned out to be a vacuum leak on the intake port which affected that cylinder more than the other three. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65t7If_MDb0 is a video i took showing the problem.

Thanks for the update but what is the fix? is there a software patch or is it fixed with the next update to the tool software?

              Thanks

Our development team has reviewed your submission and has the following findings:

This is the different method of counting of cylinder. One this the physical order and another is working order. Normally the working order of those 4 cylinder engine is 1-3-4-2, 1-2-4-3, 1-3-2-4 or 1-4-3-2.

                Add the message in FT.

This certainly does not explain what the 'Fix' was.
