I got to fool around with one of those VWs involved in the Dieselgate fiasco, a 2015 Golf TDI). It was one of the cars that was retrofitted with an SCR system and resold. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what data had changed in the reprogrammed PCMs and check out the true tailpipe emissions. It appears that they are pretty darn clean going down the road. Very low NOx out the tailpipe as measured by the Outlet NOX sensor and the gas bench. Cruise Nox was generally under 50 ppm. Sometimes under 10 ppm. They easily meet the 85% reduction spec.
