    Help requested with multimeter EEDM503B

Hi, I am looking for some help with the meter in the title - it's as old as the hills but still works perfectly.

I went to change the battery and noticed that the red wire had become detached from the PCB; the black wire is still attached, and there is a logical-looking track next to it which could well be where the wire has come adrift.

Could someone with this model please take the back off it (three crosshead screws) and confirm that the wires are soldered next to each other? It would be a good excuse to change the battery anyway (it's a 9V MN1604)

    TIA

Hi Steve6911 and thanks for the images. I haven't ignored you, I will take some photos of mine tonight to show the problem.

Hi again, as you can see from the image, the inside of the back of the unit has a silver disc, purpose unknown, with two wires attached, red and black. I'm NOT talking about the two thicker wires going 'vertically' in my photo. Follow the black over to the left, you can see it's attached to the PCB; not so with the red, But on the PCB, there is a blob of solder next to the black soldered wire, that has no apparent purpose. It'd be logical to suppose that it is where the red wire has detached.

          Guesses anyone?

The "silver disc" is the little speaker for circuit continuity I believe. Your assumption of the black wire being attached to the circuit board near the red wire is also logical.
