    peugeot 206 eml light

Hi all, currently working with a friend, he's replaced the idle control valve and the car runs fine, but now while out driving, the eml light pops up, car goes to stall, light on for about 2 secs if that, then off - no codes stored.
PLug in the s'pro 10.4, eobd an manufacturer data is very little, so while driving finger ready to hit read codes, as soon as the light comes on - hit the button read codes - s'pro reports back 'lost communication.....' any one had this issue or problem, im guessing maybe a electrical fault ecu ? ecu not holding codes, ecu has a loss of signal/power for some reason at intermittent intervals ?, at the end of the road test, check for codes - no codes present.

    hi andy.
what year and engine does it have?
worth a look at live data for lambda sensor and if you can scope the crank sensor its worth a look too...
does it do it when hot or cold or does it not matter?
i would also plot its coolant temp voltage in graph mode or just watch it as the car warms up to see if its shorting/dropping off as theyre quite a common failure...
a very rear fault of the light being on and no codes could be the start of an ecu fault..if you can get it on another tool just to verify that no codes are stored.

Update: i got some running data but no sympton appeared during road test, but will look through to see what values where recorded, alun has called me to say the eml is permantly on now, so going back monday night to try again.

Will report back with findings, well all these cars im pluging into, using my iniative now, building a library of running data , may be of some use in the future, or simply a waste of time, you never know.

evening all,eml light was off when i got there.... sympton, the car was driven for about 20 mile yesterday, nice a warm, then the engine kicked as if to misfire, light on and stayed on for remainder of run. PLuged in tonight: got a code this time:

        385 ecu defect.

Now on my first visit i struggled to get the Pro to connect to the car (manufacturer and eobd), on road test as soon as the light came on i hit the read code option, the Pro lost comms with ecu, looking more like a ecu problem, car goes for mot in couple days, if it passed the owner will look into ecu replacement.
Also noted on the bba reman site - probs with p106 - 206 ecu m/marelli units, which is what our's is. IAW 1AP.81, the pro can also read the ecu part number ( a plus point for the pro)

Had to read another P.206 tonight, 1.1 HFX motor with the engine light on, went via the manufacturer link - no codes but the light was there, so had to resort to EOBD system which eventually pulled the code, i should have thought using the manufacturer procedure it should of atleast gave a code number with or with description, rather than say 'no codes present'.
