Back in 2010, i was informed by my missing SO van man, that SO capped the update charge at £800, so seen as i am on 10.4 my next upgrade should be 12.2, total of 3 upgrade to come up to date to 12.2, so will have to see.

      Costs

It is best to update on a subscription basis as you have current software for one year. Personally I would not attempt outright.

Going by my last fee's, subscription is the way to go, dependant on machine, the pro wasaprox £600 dd for the year,so if you sign up in aprill when 12.2 comes out then you automatically hand you machine to the so van man and get 12.4, if you just let the dd run, you hand yo machine over each time and continue to get each upgrade.

I was informed by my rep that if your machine is out of date and requires bringing upto date, SO capped the 1st year payment to £800, i pressume this may have altered now.

So subs is the way to go, im sure i will be stung by all the little add on's that i missed for stopping my subs and being HARD to be brought up to date

if you missed a previous update then you have to pay for that one aswell as the newest update snapon are the only ones i know of who do this and get away with it, a good machine for what it does but still not worth the money for update fees, its got to be the most expensive one out there to keep updated in comparison to what it does ( just talking about diagnostic side not all its bells and whistle stuff )
not sure if we will be keeping it updated later this year as we are looking into some other kit.
