Peugeot ignition turns off automatically, before scan tool connects - PAIN

Hi folks, any one else come across this, work colleague has bought a peugeot, accident repair etc etc, and tells me the abs light is on, so off i go tonight, to reset.
    PEUGEOT 307 2003 2.0TD 'RHY' vin number

Ignition on - all dash lights on, read the abs system 1st, then moved to airbags incase of any crash data etc, machine reported back no comms, is ignition on etc etc, looking at the dash, only the battery light was on, engine not running, strange, ignition off then back on, all the lights where there, battery - oil - handbrake - etc etc ...... restarted my machine, ignoring dash, looking at my s'pro, again no comms !!! looked at dash - no lights only battery light !!

It seems that after about 1 minute or poss shorter, everything turns off , economy saving system PEUGEOT ?

So that ignition on, wait about 1 min an then the igntion system turns off automatically, looks like you got be on your toe's to pull the codes from this set up, if the ignition system is going to turn off as the ecu see's fit etc etc.

I know fiat uses a similar power off option on their radios so you dont flattern batteries.

Just an observation on the PEUGEOT range, i spose next time, i'll start the engine, then that should keep the system live, meaning deleting will more than likely be done with the engine running ? ......

Anyone else come across this on peugeot ?

I Have come across this on Pugs and Citroens.

The ones that cause the most frustration are older Renaults and Fords as they are notorious for bad comms.

You can reset with ignition on.

Only stubborn codes require the engine to be switched off.
