About 5 years ago I installed a Bulldog remote starter I bought at local auto parts store on my wife's Saturn S series but the transmitter range seemed pretty limited either due to the module antennae being within a plastic paneled car or whatever, but good enough at closer range off my back porch.
Recently one of my Polish neighbors speaking in a Polish accent about his Hyundai Accent, claims that he thinks his car ignition switch might be shorting out, because it just randomly starts and runs without a key in it.
He bought the car used and had no idea if it has a remote starter because he was not told it had one , and got no remote for it.
I go in the house get my wife's Saturn keys and sure enough it's her remote that is starting my neighbors car across the street in his back yard. It's got to be a couple hundred feet away . i told him his car should turn off after running 10 minutes, stepping on brake pedal or opening hood .
Just be cautious working on cars with remote starters and make sure to jump an external ground to the hood pin switch to defeat the chance of a random cranking event occurring!
