Turns out the problem was a bad fuel pump but Generic Scan tool pulled a generic OBD code P0370 Timing reference high resolution circuit A, and the code from DME a 2780. In a well known Auto Repair software there are 30 different charts of codes to sift through and a quick search bar and it couldn't find either code.
Got to be an easier way
I just went to rock auto site and looked up crankshaft sensor to see an image , googled the location on the car , tried to do a component test with scope. Unfortunately the location and sealed off connector did not lend itself to back probing the wires. Took the crankshaft sensor off vehicle and measured OL , got a new $68 sensor , it too measured pretty high in mega ohms, put it on anyway, still didn't start and then proceeded to remove engine cover to check fuel pressure and diagnos fuel pump as cause of the no start.
at least a easy pump to get to under the rear seat
