I tried to see if my Earl Chive $999 Port Freight 08 had any special function to actuate the lift gate latch , but it doesn't . In Rear Body of Body Control Module,I could see the pid for lift gate handle switch remained inactive when squeezing on the handle switch. I got the liftgate window to open and partially removed the liftgate panel trim and could not see any mechanical linkage to center bottom latch actuator assembly, so i thought I would check the wiring diagram starting with rear liftgate release fuse #44 in the under hood power distribution center on the left side. Fuse tested good and had continuity to ground, so applied B+ to it with my power probe and I heard the rear liftgate latch release work but had to have someone pull on the handle to open it, while I applied power to fuse 44. Unplugged the suspect switch connector and bridged the harness side connector pins with a flat blade screw driver and heard the actuator work and saw the handle switch Pid change from inactive to active , so the handle switch is the problem.
next time I'll have to remember and jump power to 15A lift gate release fuse 44 before opening the window and yanking panel trim while the lift gate is closed .
