    Ethos Pro questions

    New member to the forum.

I am looking for access to the climate module on a 2009 VW Touareg TDI, I need to put the air doors in service mode before I disassemble the air box.
I can read and clear codes, but there is no data or actuations available.

With a Solus I would put the scanner in expert mode, I can not find that mode on the Ethos

    Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Carl Van Kesteren , Your name sounds like you're already a Wolfs-burg transplant. Here is the link to what the Ethos Tech 16.2 covers . Didn't see any mention of VW Expert mode. I work on the Tuetonic Turds just enough to be able to call myself an expert on loosing my @zz on them though.

      Thanks

Thanks for posting the links, The Snap On link states it does the climate control and I was aware of the Ross tech package, I know how to set the doors on the Touareg with the Ross tech system. I just don't have access to the Ross tech anymore.

I also discovered I can not look at my 2009 Touareg TDI engine data either

Looks like I will be making a phone call today to support..

      Thanks again

        Hi Carl,

I don't have any links to back it up, but I recall reading the Ethos Tech doesn't have Expert Mode. So, if you can't seem to find it, the option probably doesn't exist for the Pro model either. I have a Pro also, so I'll check tomorrow for you on a couple Audi A4s.

Expert mode option wasn't available on an 08 Touareg we just had in.

Good news is VCDS isn't too expensive.

How come FORD PATS doesn't work the same with different models on the same scanner?

It's a new feature for Snap-on. It will take some time to get the work done for coverage on all Models. This was the same scenario for the cylinder contribution test. That coverage started with version 9.2 and took a few years to complete. Now we are working on ford PATS, Ford Compression Tests and Injector Balance Test.

It's crummy, but it takes a few bucks to engineer the tests, and it is spread out over multiple budget cycles.

I just did a Ranger on Saturday. Maybe an 08....don't recall the year.

It's nice to have it in there. Ill be glad when they're all completed, but there will always be something we are hoping for. That's the nature of aftermarket scanners.

Seems a Chinese company for a few years just about gave us OE scanner capabilities but got itself in legal hot waters and had to downgrade the software special functions or completely change the architecture before the functions could be restored again. After 2 years of free fall of functionality for it , I still think it can do more stuff but more hit and miss than Snappy ones
Like I said before, "If one or two manufacturer's needed software functions aren't in the proverbial sh@tter at any given time , there wouldn't be much need to purchase an update hoping things will be fixed the next one, would there be?
