Well few days ago I went there to buy some 2" abrasive cookies, and an air hammer chisel because my Snap On one has been gradually sharpened over the years down to the last of the chisel width. I took a pass on what I saw because it came with 2 attachments I didn't want.
On the way out I saw a nice looking 11pc set of long handled polished chrome combination wrenches with Inside Crack Club discount priced dirt cheap, and a 5 drawer industrial roller cart in the lot
Put the 5 drawer cart together , and notice a good size ding in the bottom of the 2nd drawer and a scratch in the bright work of the handle.
Definitely not going to take the whole thing back and then have to assemble a new one.
Today I thought I would really like to try my new long handle 13mm and a 18mm combination wrenches on a rusty shock and low and behold I don't see those 2 sizes in the drawer that I need , but nothing is missing when I read the contents of the set. I do see a funky 26mm wrench that I have no idea what car or truck uses fasteners of a 26mm size, anyone know? Maybe 26mm equates to some fractional size
Why couldn't they have made the 2 smaller size wrenches. 18mm out of the big 26mm mm sized one that I probably never use . Also there's an 11mm and a 19mm wrench which I know equates to the same as the fractional sizes of 7/16" and a 3/4"sizes that I would likely get with an SAE set and those sizes should have been a 13mm and 18mm wrench instead.
Update :shouldn't have spoke too soon . Actually the 26mm wrench worked fine on one the AWD Astro Van ball joint nuts. It has a nice long polished chrome appearance but viewed from the side it appears a slightly snaky, not perfectly straight , but it busted the nut fine without issues. Some of the stuff you can't beat for assembling a 2nd set for home and mobile use . I got coupe long handled flex head 1/2" and 3/8"ratchets that I initially thought they were great but after awhile they loosen at the pivot point where the head flips from side to side with no ball detents or any way to snug up the pivot point.
Hey, For the money you can't B@tch though, and if you are someone just starting out in the field and you aren't sure if you be a mechanic for life , you can test out the waters of the automotive field being fairly well equipped and if things don't work out and aren't meant to be , get the H@ll out of the field without taking too much of a financial bath, and you always have the tools for DIY repairs. If you love the field and know you are in it for the long haul , you know you will need to have a second or third set for mobile and home use anyway.
