R&R engine

Customer approached me and wants the engine replaced in his 2009 Ford F250 with a 5.4L. I have not swapped an engine in this year of Ford. Guys are telling me to remove body form chassis with lift. Can this engine swap be done by just removing front clip??? Any advice on this venture would be great before I draft up an estimate. Realistic time frame to complete this job??

I know the estimator time is about 6and a half hours more time if it has a standard transmission. From what I remember I Don't think believe the radiator support comes off, and out of the way , so unless I could figure out a safe damage free way to lift the cab off out of the way I would take a pass and tell the guy that Shaq has bigger crane than me.

Remove radiator, may have to remove wiper cowling. Engine just lifts right up out of there. We do about two of these a month, quality Ford engineering. According to SomeData, for an automatic trans, long block R&R is 17.0 hrs. That is how we estimate, long block.

Thank you sbreland73. Sounds like no big deal. I'll see if this guy bites on the estimate. If he authorizes the engine swap, I'll let you know how it went.
