2004 BMW X3 3.0 L. Almost Every thing is special order , even the coolant connector O rings for the upper and lower hoses. Customer finally brings her car with all the parts she bought online that I told her to get at the beginning of winter. The Thermostat housing assembly , the water control valve, the upper and lower radiator hoses, and the coolant temp sensor with o-ring that snaps into the lower hose connector. The parts look like they'll work so I take all the old stuff off and putting the new parts on .Lower hose is missing an O ring in the plastic connector on one end.No problem , whip out the HF Oring set and one of the old o rings matches pretty close but the connector leaks. Call the auto parts store and the guy doesn't know what to look up, so I look up the part myself on the Rock Auto site as Victor Reinz coolant connector Oring C32348 and asked Auto Zoner to run the number and he tells me it needs to be vendor ordered, and every store I called, same sh@t ,
WTF . I take an old hose O-ring and install that, and it still leaks, then I take another used Oring and Spooged it with Ultra black , and it works. Then bled air from system, ran the heater full blast awhile, turned the temp down and hear a sound like a Little Tuetonic Gremlin with a small mallet thumping every second on the next thing that's gonna fail next and can hear and feel the vibration on the left fender apron and it's the damn brand new water control valve thunking away, WTF! Well I guess its common with the original parts too ,but this one is obnoxious you hear and feel inside the car and could be misled into thinking it's a faulty blend door actuator. Well aside from thumping noise it looked like the coolant leak was fixed until the aftermarket snap in temp sensor decides to just blow out of the plastic lower radiator hose connector with a Geyser of GL5.Thank God I didn't blow 30 bucks a gallon for the BMW premixed Heineypiss. Probably could make a killing taking 100% Zerex GL 5 , Pre mix it 50/50 and add Easter Egg dyes of various colors and sell it as new brand named Hexafrosty coolant that meets the color and freeze specs for specific Ford ,Asian ,and European makes for twice the cost of a gallon of pure 100% Zerex GL5 that is basically almost clear , LMFAO, what a joke ! I took the oring off the POS new sensor and put it on the original sensor and snapped the old sensor in positively. The new one just had poor outboard tension to the plastic side tabs ,and if I had to Pimpbrovise it I guess I could have heated the tabs with a heat gun to spread tabs more and allowed them to cool and it may have held and it worked, but figure you shouldn't have to mess with and modify brand new new aftermarket parts to work .Glad I let it run for awhile or it would have been back to me on a hook.
