MT2500 and MTG2500

Good morning everyone……

I hope I’m posting this on the right page…..
I have the following snap on equipment
The Counselor 2 3000A w/ 4 gas ( No printer ️ but I’m looking for one….. )
The MT2500
The MTG2500
I have some questions……

How do I connect either of those scanners to the Counselor 2..? ( What cable and part number…..? )

Will both the MT and MTG use the same cartridges and cables……?

Can I use the Power Pac 600 battery on the MTG…..? ( my MTG has an old bad battery and the battery connector on the scanner is broken….. )

How does the MTG2500 get power….?
From the DLC connection to the car……?
on the MT you connect the 12 volts from car battery to side of adapter……..

Also anyone know where I can get the printer ️..…?

The MT3000 was last sold 25 years ago. There's no parts available for it through Snap-on. Your best chance is E-Bay, probably.
You could connect the MT2500 to a MT3000 with a cable that looked like a network cable, but it was wired differently.
The Mt2500 and MTG ran the same cartridges.
I never tried the power pack with the MTG, but it should work with it.. There's really no need for it though. those scanners are powered off the vehicle when used correctly.

It actually works…. And my cars are all OBD 1….


I do need a printer ️ for it…. the Scribe 2….

one of my scanners has the network type cables… ( one for a printer and one for the Counselor 2…? )

so both the MT and MTG get power from the OBD 2 connector and for the OBD 1 it requires the battery clamp or cigarette lighter adapter that plugs in the connector itself……

oh what scanner replaced the MT and MTG …..??

Which one in my picture is the backlit one…..???

How do I know what version they are…??

How can I tell if have a backlit one…. And how do you turn on the back light….??

I plugged both into a OBD 2 car just to power them up….. went all the way past the information screens…….. and no back light…?

I have the primary and fast track cartridges………

The MT2500 was replaced by the Solus, but both were sold at the same time for several years.
Then came the Solus Pro.
A few years after that came the Modis, and you could buy a Solus Pro if you didn't need a lab scope, and a Modis if you did.

If your scanner was backlit, you'd know it when you plugged it in. It would come on.
The MTG2500 was only sold with a back light, but neither of those scanners appears to be an MTG.
