    Mode 6

One of the many items I would like to have on the Verus is decoded mode 6 Having a decoded mode 6 would speed and ease diagnosis in many cases.
This is one of many items that need fixed on the verus to turn it from a mediocre tool into great tool.

    Mode 6 usage

When your trying to fix multiple makes and models as we are mode 6 could be a big help, even though we have so much vehicle specific software on our Snap-on tools. The mode 6 data you refer to is, in my humble opinion, very different for each model and year and like measuring blocks on a VW/Audi, vaguely understood. The best places i found to gain insight on modes 6-8 are in the "manuals" and OE references for each car. Here are some places I like:
*Shop Key actually has a category for mode 6 under "repair" for each car (i suppose Mitchell would also).
*IATN An online technicians resource/database is a great resource IMO. Amoung other things they have some great OBD/mode info in the "resources" tab containing some good OE technical training and info from multiple manufacturers.

Since the mode 6-8 data/test results are different (not available) for all cars it can be time consuming doing the research. I am still fascinated by all the test result data and such that i havent utilized yet after all these years of it being available. Yes, it is still somewhat scattered and unorganized compared to todays' standards and it could be improved upon.

I have noticed on most of the CAN cars it is being decoded, I had a 2007 ford F150 that has Mode 6 decoded the other day, well partially. It had the Test ID's decoded but I still had to grab my ford Mode 6 misfire cheat sheet I made. I know a lot of people use mode 6 on fords for misfire diagnosis.

I also have some PDF files for acura, honda, and Chysler that cover mode 6 and the Ford files that contain model year theory and operation with mode 6 breakdown if anyone would like them let me know.

          Mode6

Mode6 is very important in verifying and base-lining a MIL fault before and after repairing a MIL fault. I Use E-Scan and or AutoEnginuity, Both these Generic OBD2 scanners will decode Mode6 test data. And these tools cost a fraction of what SnapOn tools cost, SnapOn just plain Sucks in OBD2 information. My OTC will also give me better Mode6 and Quicker OBD2 readiness and codes.... Sorry SnapOn you really need to improve the Generic OBD2 coverage for all your tools. Yes I know you do offer Better OEM coverage and support but OBD2 is just as important especially on Mode6. I use My Verus all the Time, but when it comes down to simple OBD2 I have to use my Other tools. I don't like or use those simple Cheap unprofessional Code Readers, but they seem to do better job in OBD2 testing. now that not good. so please SO improve the OBD2 generic side of your tools. Thanks..
