    SAAB coverage??

What does one need to talk with Saab modules? Like ABS.. BCM etc . My Snap-On scanner only does just the generic global OBD2 stuff. I need a diag tool that can talk with an ABS system on a 93 Saab and I really hate telling people to go to the dealer ..etc etc. What is out there for diag tools that work on Saab??
Any reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Sorry everybody it's a 2003 9-3 Turbo

1993 Saab ABS, no scanner? Ship it

Wow, a 1993 Saab. All of ours are rusted away and gone, thankfully.

I use a Tech2 with the Saab card, but I don't think it goes back that far. I doubt I can even get an ABS adapter from someone for the Tech2 these days.

I also have an Autel that has some coverage on Saab, but again, no ABS adapter.

To be honest, if you do not have the capability, you would be better off not investing in Saab ABS and ship it. Other wise you may be able to get flash codes by jumpering an adapter?

What does service info say? Can you do that? Check codes manually? See if you have a WSS sensor code and scope the sensors? Beyond that, how much diagnostic time can a customer afford?

    Good Luck, Bob

        unless he means SAAB 9-3
bosch kts may talk to it but have had the odd car where it wont.
our launch does ok on these, scanned one today and got into all modules no problem.
if you can get the ecu part number you want to scan then you may be able to scan it directly rather than via the manufacturer/model choices menu as it may be covered on the tool if another manufacturer uses the same ecu.

          .

Ah, that could be... Disguising the car as a year! What will the Swedes think of next?

I actually have a 2002 Saab 9-5 3.0 V-6 Turbo with Trionic at the shop today. It has a code "limp home throttle something or other needs resetting. Could not find that function on my Tech 2.

It must be a manual thing, but I don't know how, have you done this before?

          Thanks, Bob

thats a good question...if its not on the tech2 tool then as you say..may just be a straight swap job with the new part,or at worst a software patch

All those espensive snap on scanners that you got can't read 2002 saab? Maxidas can.

Snap on supports Daihatsu but it won't support Saab?! LOL.

The 1993 Saab 900 and 9000 did not have brake booster but a brake fluid pump that goes bad and accumulator goes bad. I've done few of them. There are no codes in the ABS ecu, you got to use Saab factory ABS tester, part number 89 96 514

The value on OBD1 Saab is so low now that most people would not be willing to spend some money in the shop

Thanks... that's about the best advice yet after some thought. It is a 2003 SCAB... ahh I mean 2003 SAAB 9-3 Turbo(you wouldn't know it driving it) This guy thinks the world of this car rambling on and on about how great it is and doesn't trust taking it to the dealer. I didn't ask why (bad business)

I haven't really seen that many and was curious to know what was needed.
                THANKS

Without scanner it will be hard.

Now that we know what year, the Tech 2 with a Saab card is your best bet.

The Autel Maxidas 708 or possibly Launch is another way to get in. You shouldn't need a seperate ABS connector with those tools.

If you don't have a scanner (or can borrow one) that can talk with it then you can see if there is a way to get flash codes. If not, ship the car and make it the owners problem once again.

                  Good Luck, Bob
