snap on programming device

has anyone used the pass thru pro programming device? i'm looking at purchasing one but need a little input. what are the down falls and good points as well

i go mine when i got my verus (april), have not used it because you have to pay for each site you want a download from, an management doesnt have confidance that it wont ruin a pcm, however if you saw the demo at the snap-on show last month at the DAVE AN BUSTERS its really all you need and should work well, i have 3 yrs working with a ids and it reprograms the same way. and it came with a dvd to load soft ware into pc are verus .and i loaded easy enough.

Bought ours mainly for dodge programmin. We have IDS and Tech2. Done a few dodge LH cars. Dont use it on a 03 or newer Cummins. You will have to take it to dealer and have the key programmed, and the vin#

nick,the last dodge i tried to reprogram was a 2006 5.9 diesel and i had the same issues like the vin and key not being programed. talking to tech support we thought it was the software download from the dodge web site that was the issue and not the passthrew device. i have not done a dodge reprogram since and thats the last info i got?

Hi Diesel71,

I don't think I would use a passthru on any dodge diesel,I am wanting to say this one has skim security and could not find the vin after.
I have loaded a lot of diesels but only with oem.

Cummins have been a problem for all the passthru units.

read the dear snap-on post after yours and you will get a feel for exactly what the pass thru is like to own. I am on here now because a ford explorer is giving us trouble and i cant find any info to help us. you gotta be super resourcefull if you by a snap on universal tool of any kind.
