    2000 Cadillac Eldorado

    Hi, just got a 2000 cadillac eldorado in my shop. This thing is crazy, every two days the battery goes dead, charge the battery and runs fine. The alternator is charging and the battery is good. If the customer lets it sit for more than two days it goes dead. When I pulled it in I pulled the codes from the computer. The codes I pulled were:
    B1552 Loss of BCM Alive Memory
    B1558 BCM EEPROM Checksum Error
    B1970 Exterior Lamp Power Fault
    B1982 Battery Source Voltage High
    B1983 Battery Source Voltage Low
    P0340 Cam Position Problem
    P0601 PCM Memory Error
    U1152 Loss ACM/HVAC Communication
    B1171 Imternal SDM Fault
    B1327 Battery Voltage Low
    I use the snap-on solus scanner and it will only give you tips on the engine codes. I am not really sure what the issue is with this car, but it is driving me nuts. Anyone out there ever run into this with this vehicle, any help would be awsome.

    I never had this problem, but I would start with finding the circuit that drains the battery. Maybe a Amp meter inline on the battery, then pull fuses till the current draw drops. Don't forget there will be at least 1 circuit that should always draw amperage.

      hey how it going, i had i suburban 02 i think not to long ago and this sounds very filmiliar, i was check ing perasidic drw, pulling fueses and my hair, sometimes i count comunicate? no reason? just happened to remove lower panel down by scanner connector and gues what ? someone had scotchlocked into the wires going to the scanner connector. disconected the wire and all became ok again. sometimes they just wont leave well enough alone. good luck, ajckb

        ANYTHING electrical starts & finishes with the battery. Disconnect it, recharge it and load test it. Then let it sit overnight, check the open circuit voltage and test it again.
        Now that you KNOW you have a healthy battery you can begin the vehicle testing.
        The normal parasitic drain would be somewhere near 10 to 30 milliamps. anything more than 40 or 50 milliamps and something is draining the battery.
        There are lots of things that stay alive for anywhere from 1 to 2 minutes after shut down to sometimes as much as an hour after shutdown, depending on the vehilce and options.
        Hook up an ammeter, measure the parasitic draw for a few minutes, then go back and check it again 3 or 4 minutes later. Watch it for about an hour to two hours. A Vantage-Pro with a low amps inductive pickup would be my first selection of equipment to hook up.
        Now you know how much is being drained and for how long. If after 2 hours, the drain isn't down to normal (about 10 to 30 ma) you can start isolating circuits by removing fuses one by one. Take a picture of where the fuses are located and get a printout of the fuse block/relay centres. There are more than one so print them all out. Start with the main body feeds first.
        Take a look at the schematics, have a coffee and look them over patiently.
        Read what the code descriptions are. Some of them would be expected with a low battery but there could be a clue in there.
