I scanned my buddies late style Volvo wagon last week using my solus, got in using generic OBD2 (no other way of course it's a stinking Volvo). As I put the key in that it called for( S44 I think) the damb air bag light came on. anyone else run in to this??

If it's a newer car, especially anything with CAN, you need to connect, disconnect, install and remove keys with the VEHICLE KEY OFF. Failure to do so can cause all kinds of goofy stuff to happen, as you experienced. Don't get too mad at the scanner for this. Remember what you are doing with the personality keys....reconfiguring the pins on the DLC. When you install and remove the key you are not completing the connection on all the pins at the exact same time. That can wreak havoc with any communication line.

Thanks Joe
That makes sence,I did have the connection pluged in before installing the S44 key..That key gave me no responce so I went to plan "B" which is key K20. I think the air bag light came on when I changed the keys...of course there is no way of scanning a Volvo air bag system (if there is I do not know how) so buddy went off to the dealer anyway. I love when favors turn into "you screwed my car up night mares"
The scanner I am happy with it's Volvo I can'nt standComment
