    Issues with newer VP software????

Alright I will try and explain this the best I can.

I went to a Volvo training center, for a Advance Signal Measurement class ( turne out to be a basic class ), but any ways, we were all using VP's. Everybody had the Volvo VP, but I brought my own.

Part of the course, we had to figure out what the signal should be, mathematically, and then measure with the VP.

We figured 6.4Hz, well my VP with original software, was measuring 6.4Hz, but everybody else was measuring over 12 Hz , we were all hook to the same signal, I checked and made sure everybodys was set up the same, and they were.

Just wondering if there are some mathematical software issue with some of the newer software for the VP ???

Are these all the "Blue" Volvo VP's or is are any the regular red ones?

The one I took, is my personal one, so it is a Snap-on red one. All the others was the Volvo blue .

I have seen some local Volvo techs at classes with these but they wouldn't let anyone see them. Are they different software? Just Volvo only or other makes as well?

Well it still has the other info in it. I think the main differance is that is will have more up to date info on Volvo, before it is availible in the reg SO update. Other then that I have notcied much differance.

Most vehicle are upto 05 and Volvos are upto 07

Were the software versions different? I.e. yours 7.2 theirs 7.4? I do not have the V-pro, I have a Modis. The 7.4 update is full of problems! I have more calls into tech support to report them with this version then all others combined! Snap-on is going through some changes as they are cutting positions, they must have cut their BETA testers as well. I was hoping for an interim update to correct the issues but it looks like the fix "maybe" 8.2. This is the only time I will not rush out to be the "first on the block" to have the new update, I will wait and read all the posts in the forums I am members of before any purchase. So if the versions are different keep the one you have for now! And if Snap-on is looking for Beta testers I am volunteering my services!

I am not sure what thiers were, I would say it was still 6.4 plus additional Volvo info.Mine is still the original 5.?, 6.4 and 7.4 came out and I didn't purchase them, mainly not being in the open market on vehicles.

I have been hearing about issues, about 7.4, so I am not sure if i am ready to step up for that one yet.

8.2?? I thought Vantage updates were only once a year, as I understood it, that applied to Vantage info in the Modis also. I could be wrong.

Nah, it's most likely me thats wrong! My head is stuck in the Modis platform because that is what I have. I usally keep away from posts about the V-pro and Solus for this reason. Anyway, if your tool reads correct and newer software tools did not, DON"T upgrade until you hear the problems have been resolved. I would rather have NO information then WRONG information while repairing a vehicle.
