Getting 8.2 next week, dealer installed

I am getting my Modis updated to 8.2 next week, my question is the snap on dealer is updating via his computer, my concern is what happens if I have a software failure and have to reload 8.2?

is this standard prodecure for dealers or should I request 8.2 so I have the card for the future in case I do have to reload the software,

Your dealer will be taking the CF card out from under the Left hand grip, taking out to his truck and installing the new version on the card. Then when installed it will update the tool. The operating system is in the card. It can be reloaded if a problem does happen. If for some reason the files on the CF card are ever damaged call tech support and you will have a new one within 48 hours (most of the time). You will need to keep you receipt for the update and fax it to them if this does happen.

I'm having 8.2 loaded next Tuesday. I just bought the European kit today so I can install it before the upgrade. My dealer said when I upgrade to 8.2 it will automatically upgrade the European also at the same price???

The instruction sheet that is inside the European kit said that once I load it into my MODIS, it is configured for MY MODIS only and will not work in any other. I certainly understand this. There are guys selling upgrade kits on EBAY and I have to tell you, I almost bid on one, (the European). I guess I would have been SOL if that software had been previously installed and failed to load in my MODIS.
In fact, I was reading the guys comments on EBAY and he had a complaint about some MODIS software for the heavy duty trucks that he had auctioned off. The negative comment said that he sold upgrade software which did not work. You know as well as I do that this software they are selling must have at one point been loaded into some machine at some time

I have the European Software. You pay for it once and it is automatically upgraded each time you upgrade your software.

Definitely think twice before buying software for your MODIS used. Not only could it be not good or already installed, the files could be corrupted. There really is no way to be sure and you will get no help from tech support I am betting if you buy it second hand.

My MODIS was purchased used. I had no issues. Tech support was always more than happy to help me.

modis 7.4 and 8.2 upgrade

hey everyone, i just got my modis back from california with the complete overhaul done for $1800. they replaced the case with new style, motherboard and loaded 7.4. my question is its only been a month or so and now 8.2 is out. should i try to get the upgrade for free or am i sol on this?

Well, I got my 8.2 today, cant wait to get home and play with it a little tonight to see what other surprises it may have. My dealer said it was $100 off if purchased by the end of the month. Every little bit helps. Chucky got to do some scannin next month....... March was expensive.... European last week and 8.2 today...... I'm done for a while LOL

Well did the 8.2 deed today as it was free, scanner had 6.4 so 8.2 will be big upgrade, havent really used the Modis much since I bought it, just ordered a Amp clamp so I can do Ramp testing, am going to order the 100 psi transducer also, dont know about Euro yet, dont think its worth the exspense right now.

Suprisingly the download took less time then I would have thought. wish I had more time to experiment with it before the upgrade to see the additions Snappy added. hopefully I wont be dissapointed.
