Shop Stream Must Close
The CF card on my VAntage pro took a dump. Got that squared away. Went to verify ability to connect to PC. ( Inability to do that was my first clue that I had a problem, the Shop Stream program still functioned, just no connection.) Now Shop Stream just gives me the "Shop Stream has encountered a problem and must close...." message. Dumped the whole program and started over with a new download. Still get the same message. This just happened, it is 19:25 my time and I haven't called support yet. I was just wondering if anybody here has any ideas. The stupid message is not particularly informative.

Keep in mind that I am not a programmer. Everything I do to fix computer problems is through the "back door" you might say. Once I got a new CF1 program card, I tried tech support's method. You know, spin 3 times, bow to the west, sacrifice a chicken, etc. No go.
I thought about it and studied a calender, then did a system restore to a check point where everything was still working correctly. That did the trick.
BTW, I now just leave CF1 alone and I'm running a CF2 that save everything to. Sure there is room to save to on CF1, but I have learned my lesson. Its the program card, so I just leave it alone and don't save anything to it.Comment

Saving to CF1 and CF2
Just thought I would comment here.
If you save to CF2 or a USB memory stick, I agree that there is a lot less chance of corrupting your CF1 program card. I don't usually take my cards out, I use the "connect to PC" option instead. I did notice that if you have configured the modis to save to CF2 or USB, you won't be able to load a saved preset configuration until your switch back to the CF1.Comment

I too use "connect to pc." Remember though, when you take that snapshot, it is getting saved somewhere until you get the tool over to the pc and hooked up. So I configured my Vantage Pro to save to CF2 all the time every time. When you save to CF2 (or CF1 for that matter) all you have to do is set up your snapshot then trigger it. On the Vantage Pro to save to USB you have to pull out the leads so you can slide a cover aside to expose the USB port, then plug in your usb device then trigger the snapshot. Sure you can configure for lots to be stored both before and after the trigger, it can be done, but it is most inconvenient.
I haven't noticed anything about what you're saying about presets. This all happened at the end of last week and I am now several hundred miles away at factory training all this week. I just haven't done anything yet that called for saving then recalling a preset. Naturally all my old presets were lost when the first CF1 dropped dead. Heck, it even lost those supposedly "locked" demo files!Comment

Sacrifice a chicken! Wow be careful you and S.O. might get in trouble with the animal rights people!!!
Anyway, with my Modis I always save to CF2, the Modis's mini usb is right on the circuit board, even with S,O,;s anti-stress clip I worry about pulling it out in cause of an opps! I just pull the CF card (cf2) put it in a card reader and I'm set. Don't have to worry about my program card or damaging my Modis.

It works much the same as a PC in this respect, if set to CF1/internal, that is where it will save files to and load them from. If set to CF2/top CF, it will save to and load from there.
If files were saved to CF1, they won't be available when the unit is set to CF2.
You can move or copy user saved files from CF1 to CF2 so they are then available from that CF. Out of habit with PC's in general, I tend to copy important files 1st, then delete them from the old location 2nd rather than move them.
Using CF2 makes the most sense for the reasons mentioned.
One thing to note: Because many users observed that the factory presets were not available (and wanted them to be) when the unit was set to CF2, the current version of Modis software (8.2) will display the presets from CF1 along with those from CF2 when the unit is set to CF2. I don't remember offhand when this change went into effect, so If it isn't in the V Pro yet, it should be picked up in the next release.Comment

Yeah the process tech support had me go through was intense, and way more time consuming than my final fix. And the blood and feathers everywhere! Had to get it all cleaned up before my wife saw it. It was nuts I tell you!Comment
