    GM HVAC & Transmission Programming

    Hello Guys,
Newbie with questions. Just purchased pass thru pro 3 and going to be attempting to reprogram some GM vehicles if possible. First one is 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L. Replacing transmission & will need to be reprogrammed. Is this possible for me to do. The second vehicle is a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3L. Found TSB for reprogramming HVAC control module or assembly reprogramming with SPS. Very confused about programming & what I can, cannot do. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank
    Chad P.

Gm uses j2534 for programming functions, and you can program any module that is available. So yes to your questions.

Even though windows 10 is already compatible, I would suggest you get a laptop with windows 7 64 bit. Easier to flash and will most likely not run into problems when installing all the drivers the program needs. Good luck!

I just bought a MDI 2, got a new HP touch tablet with windows 10 Pro, and had no trouble installing programs to operate for reflash. Had more trouble loading Tech 2 Win program and getting 30 day authorization to work. GM's instructions for MDI2 leave a little to be desired. But it does work great with Windows 10, both Tech 2 Win and reflash. The MDI 2 was only $750.00 also.

It would depend what you call "programming"
There are few memory areas which are programmable. The area where is part number and VIN stored not programmable on all modules. And then some models use TDM which check if any module was changed. After that it rise security alarm. And then your vehicle won't start. And when you go to TDM data you see "illegal VIN"
